Angyl...
I'm not an actual person. I am an image, an idea belonging to a corporeal body full of ideas and stories and
possibilities.
"I am vast. I contain multitudes." - Walt Whitman
I am a handle. I developed a handle back when it was a vital part of an online identity and created my virtual brand imaging.
Handles seem to have fallen by the wayside. But I think there is freedom in aninimoty. There is a sense of playfulness
living in a world we create with each keystroke, and command. There are alliances to be made; friendships that exist only
in this pseudo-reality. Genuine friendship, even when reality is only ethereal.
"Joey: I need a handle, man. I don't have an identity until I have a handle.
Phreak: You know, you're right about that."
I am my latest layout; which is occasionally a sad state of affairs.
"Human beings do metamorphose. They change their identity constantly. However, each new identity thrives on the delusion that
it was always in possession of the body it has just conquered." - Orson Scott Card :: Xenocide
I am a collector of story. Which, is why nearly all of my sites are devoted to story in one form or another. Words
give substance to story. Images contain story and ignite it. People move through story as if it were a river. The tides of
the individual stories we hear and tell make us more human.
"Perhaps it is the child within us who is able to recognize the truth of story - the mysterious, the numinous, the
unexplainable - and the grownup within us who accepts these qualities with joy but understands that we also have
responsibilities, that a promise is to be kept, homework is to be done, that we owe other people courtesy and consideration,
and that we need to help care for our planet because it's the only one we've got.
I never want to lose the story-loving child within me, or the adolescent, or the young woman, ... because all together they
help me to be fully alive on this journey, and show me that I must be willing to go where it takes me, even through the
valley of the shadow." Madeleine L'Engle
Other random, yet nearly solid facts...
I love good sci-fi - anything pretty much...I define good
I love books - not just reading them but the feel and smell of them
I look up words in the online dictionary
often for precision in my language
I am generally not a fan of any actor or actress
That's not entirely accurate - I enjoy anything 20% more if it has someone I like from a tv show I like in it.
And Andrea Parker.
And I think Michelle Pfeiffer, Brad Pitt, Rachel McAdams, Mel Gibson, and Kiefer Sutherland pretty consistently do
brilliant work but I don't always like every project they choose.
For the most part I don't like war movies or gangster movies
I do like things outside the world of the media. They're not so simple to articulate. And the media is full of stories.
If I were a pirate I'd be Captain Anne Read.
"Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Even though many pirates
have a reputation for not being the brightest souls on earth, you defy the sterotypes. You've got taste and education. Arr!"
Or I'd be Morgan the Temptress
If I were in LOTR I might be Frodo.
"With many acquaitenances, Frodo is deeply attached to a few people, like Bilbo, Aragorn, Gandalf, and Sam. His high ethics
come out in his treatment of Gollum and Saruman. Frodo has pity on Gollum and believes that change can occur.
You have a strong personal morality. You are committed to relationships and their growth. You tend to be an idealist,
believing the best of the world around you. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency
to introspection. While providing compassion and being considerate, you may have the tendency of being soft-hearted or even
'too emotional' You like keeping your options open. Closure is probably not one of your strong suits.
The Orcs display the evil side of this personality with their lengthy torture methods.
Traits: Empathic, benevolent, looking to the future. On the dark side you could be sadistic."
